Just today the Music Video Team had an extra practice before we go to Orlando, Florida. We did the best that we ever did! We got our Music Video done by 5:30 with no black spots at all, and no re-used shots. We had time to clean it up and export it again. We had lots of sequences with clean B-roll shots. I'm very proud of our team for finally completing a Music Video. Great job Kelli, Javlynn, and Nicole. You guys put in a lot of effort today. Let's take that effort to the STN Convention!

So, last Saturday we did a Sweet Sixteen Practice. Sweet Sixteen is a 16 hour event. You have 16 hours to go and get news stories to fill up a 10 minute broadcast. There was the film team and the broadcast team. I was in the broadcast team.

The given topic was success. Everyone gathered in a circle and we brainstormed some possible stories we could do. My group ended up doing a story on Puka Dogs. Puka Dogs is a store in Poipu where they sell their hot dogs and freshly squeezed lemonade. They went from a regular hot dog stand, to a popular store in Poipu.

My team consisted of myself, Ben Brady, and Kaycee. Our story luckily made the deadline to bring it to the main editors. I wasn't there, I had gotten sick and had to leave early. From what I heard our story still turned out to be good. We got a lot of B-roll while we were there. I was the main camera person in that group. It all turned out to be good.

We are in the process of getting ready to leave for Florida. Up in Florida we'll have to go through the real thing. This will be my 3rd and final year going to the STN Convention with the CKTV Group. I will miss it because I'll have to leave all the fun and stress and the CKTV Ohana. It's going to be a good experience with everyone.

Hopefully we will have a strong story up in Florida. Our team works together well. We get things done and try hard doing it. I hope we are successful up in Florida as well!

Are you into Media? It's a great hobby to have. You can go all around and get get news stories for all kinds of subjects. Or you can go out and make a PSA or Music Video. It's both stressful and fun though. You have to have clear shots that aren't crooked. They can't be shaky and everything must be precisely done. With those things, you won't have a good video and it won't be fun to watch a not good quality video right? Well if you don't want to take the time to do that, then Media isn't for someone like you. But I love media. It's very stressful, but I enjoy it. So take an interest in media because you never know what could happen!

Last week Saturday we had our 3rd STN practice. Sadly , we didn't make the deadline. The music video team neither improved or worsened. On Monday we'll be having our 4th STN Practice, it'll take place at the Marriott this time so we can get the feeling of the real thing.

In our last few practices, I haven't been much of a leader. I was on my phone a lot and I didn't control things very well if something went wrong. I'm very sorry that I didn't step it up earlier, but now I will because I realize that my actions can result our team into having a win or a loss. I would like to come out on the winning end.

With the 4th Practice approaching, I'm getting ready to be the leader and to be more helpful. We're going to get a lot more b-roll with better quality, have a better story, and throw in more sequences. I'll try my best to make the editing clean and get it done fast so that we have something to turn into the judges. Hopefully it'll be quality work.

The 4th Practice is going to go well, I can feel it. If we set aside the bad habits and focus on the good ones, we'll have a good day . All of our hard work will be worth the while. If we get this right, then we won't be wasting time and money that we're using to get ready for the trip. It'll be worth all the time. I'm excited to step it up and get things done the good way even it's not the easy way.

My apologies go to Kelli, Javlynn, Nicole, Mr.M, and all the other students in media for not trying to step it up earlier. I'm going to be a leader and take charge and be more responsible. I hope everyone has a good 4th STN Practice.

So in about a month the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School will be going on a trip to Orlando, Florida for the 2014 Student Television Network Convention. We've been having STN practices just about every weekend so that we'll be ready for the competition. I'm in the Music Video competition with Kelli, Javlyn, and Nicole. So far it's been good. Our group just needs to work on time management like making the deadline and having a story to our music video. Our actors are doing good and our camera work is doing okay. We need to work hard to get everything right, and hopefully next practice we'll be able to do that. Wish us luck!

This week's blog topic is about our biggest decision. We've all made decisions in life , like what to eat or what to wear . My biggest decision was deciding whether or not I should push myself harder in school and everything . I was in a position where i was trying really hard in school, soccer, and helping others and nothing seemed to be going right.

I wasn't getting the best grades at that time, I usually get A's and B's but i was getting C's and B's instead. I would study a lot at night and focus in class because i wanted and still want good grades. It still wasn't working out for me very well. I needed to figure out what I was doing wrong and decide whether to keep pushing myself harder or just give up and have bad grades.

I didn't want to disappoint my parents or family and I mostly didn't want to disappoint myself. It seems like a weird decision to make but I didn't want to keep trying when nothing was working. But, I chose to keep trying. Since the things I was doing wasn't working out I went ahead and asked teachers and friends for help with the things I was struggling in.

That decision really impacted my grades and my attitude. I was more interested in trying my hardest to get my work done and to have quality work. It turned my grades around and left both my parents and I proud.

In conclusion, big or small decisions can still make big impacts. I make the choice to keep trying, and it worked out for me. That was one of my biggest decisions surprisingly, so choose wisely everyone. It could change a lot of things.

The 2nd Quarter is already coming to an end! Time went by so fast, but with it being the end of the 2nd Quarter it means our projects are due. My partner Dalson and I have to turn in our completed projects on Decenmber 18th 2013. Only two more days!

Recently I've had a concussion so Dalson had to do a lot of work. Thank you very much for stepping it up, shows how good you are at media. But anyways, we are in the editing process right now. This is an important part because we want good editing and good sequences put together. Hopefully by Tuesday we will get all of our stuff together.

Right from the beginning of the quarter we started filming and gathering research. We got lots of b-roll and most of our interviews were great, of course there could have been improvement. Hopefully the b-roll matches the audio bites.

The ending product will definetly be good. Dalson and I will be hard at work editing our project. Wish us luck!

So TV Shows have a lot to do with media. Popular TV Shows like NCIS or Dog With A Blog have to have focused shots and clear audio. That's just like us, good perspectives and strange shots can make the story interesting. TV Shows can relate to us and so can Movies. So we can watch different TV Shows and get ideas pf what to do.

This 2nd Quarter, my partner and I are doing a news story on metal recycling on the island of Kauai. My partner and I have got some progress on our project. We have interviews, b-rolls, and our script that are coming along.

Interviews are a key part in our videos. Interviews help get your point and story out to the audience. For our interviews we have to interview the Operator, Workers, and Consumers. We are almost finished with our interviews, we should be done by this next week. We need all the interviews we can get so that we can have a strong story.

B-roll is another key thing in our story because how would you like to just watch people talk the whole time. B-roll can cover up interviews so you can see what people are talking about so you can have more of an image. We have quite the amount of b-roll right now but more could help us even more. Hopefully the shots are clear and hopefully we will have enough sequence.

While in the process of doing our script, it may take a few drafts because it's not going to be perfect. Our script is starting to come along. We can put down voice overs, b-roll, and interviews. Soon we can turn it in to Mr.M.

So, Dalson and I are doing okay but I need to hurry it up so that we can have more progress. Hopefully by the beginning of next week we can have a completed version of our script.

So yesterday we had our first Street Fair of the year. Unluckily, there was a really bad thunderstorm so we had to shut it down early . Soon we will have another one though , there will be bingo, a mini craft fair, and food trucks. Please come support the students at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School by showing up and purchasing something. The money we get will help our students in the Media Program get to Orlando, Florida to go to the Student Television Network Convention. So please come support us, mahalo.
